Hi everyone! My name is Lynette Sheldon, or you can call me Lyn. I am excited to be in this class with all of you. A little bit about myself- I am 27, so a bit older than most of you probably. I was born in Kent, CT but I have lived in SC since I was 10 years old. I am married and have amazing step-kids that I will probably talk about entirely too often; I apologize in advance. We are also animal lovers- we have two dogs and two cats. Photo below features one of our doggos, Annie.
Current Favorites:
I must admit that I am not really up to date with current music. I have a collection of favorites that I have accumulated over the years that I listen to on repeat. I am, however, guilty of binging Tik Tok every so often, so I will share one of my current favorite Tik Tok parodies with you guys.
I am sure that many of you recognize the corn song! I think the corn kid is adorable, and I find the corn song itself catchy. I want to be as excited about something as that kid is about his corn.Another song from 2022 that I have been enjoying is "About Damn Time" by Lizzo. Mature audiences recommended.
I really like how upbeat it is, how energetic, and I love the "love yourself" theme. I generally do listen to a lot of "pop" music as a whole. I think that Lizzo is an extremely talented artist and I enjoy a lot of her music.
Meaningful Music:
There are so many songs that remind me of events from my past, and one thing I really enjoy about music is the nostalgia. One song that immediately comes to mind is "Enter Sandman" by Metallica. My high school marching band performed it in 2010. It was my favorite show that we did, even though it was not received as well by the judges as we may have hoped. Perhaps you can spot me (but probably not).
Music I DON'T Love:
One type of music that I really do not connect with at all is blues music. I really enjoy learning about the history of blues music; it has such a rich and interesting past. I do think oldies blues is much better than newer, more contemporary blues music. It is just not something that I am interested in sitting down to listen to in my free time. I will attach a bit of blues music for you blues lovers.
I have to admit though, Etta James certainly has a beautiful voice, even if it isn't my genre of choice.
Conclusion:
Thank you so much for taking the time to read about my music preferences. I cannot wait to read all about you guys and your thoughts!

I love the corn sound on Tik Tok! It reminds me a lot of home. We have a lot of corn farms around where I live. I have grown up on a lot of freshly grown corn. One of my favorite parts of the summer, and when it is turning into the fall is how all the gas stations have corn stands in them. In conclusion I really like the sound because corn is a big part of home, and I really miss home!
ReplyDeleteI honestly admit, I have never even heard of the Corn Song before. But after listening to it, I think it's honestly pretty cute and interesting! I can see why people would want to make parodies of it. I also enjoyed the second song you put, especially the singer herself. I've never heard of her either, but I already want her to become more popular and well-known one day.
